Joshua Feldman, who is 16 years old now, was accepted as the youngest student ever to the Juilliard School of Music Pre-College Division at the age of 5. Joshua has been a recipient of the honorary scholarship every year since.
Among many other awards, Mr. Feldman was a Stravinsky Awards prizewinner in 2002, as well as winner of the prestigious Bartok-Kabalevsky-Prokofiev International Piano Competition in 1999 and 2000.
Joshua made his concerto debut at age 6 performing Haydn's D-major Piano Concerto with the New York String Society. In March of 2003 Joshua performed the Shostakovich Piano Concerto No. 2 with the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra at Tilles Center. In November of 1999 he participated in the "Piano Century" concert series at Juilliard School of Music, performing music of Milhaud. Joshua also performed with the Perlman Music Program, and in summer 2002 took part in a cultural exchange program led by Mr. and Mrs. Perlman at the Shanghai Conservatory of Music in China.
No stranger to the stage or screen, Joshua played the role of a young Beethoven in the 1998 A&E Biography series, performing music of Mozart and Haydn. Joshua made his Lincoln Center debut in March of 2001 in the "Meet the Music!" production by The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center in Alice Tully Hall. In the spring of 2001, Joshua was invited to appear as a feature artist on the National Public Radio program "From the Top".
Among his teachers are Frank Lévy, Dr. Miyoko Lotto, Herbert and Nancy Stessin, Jeaneane Dowis-Lipman and his uncle, the composer Bright Sheng.
