Colette Freedman

Playwright for The Mendelssohn Project

Colette Freedman is a playwright, whose works have been produced extensively in Los Angeles and New York as well as internationally in Canada, England and Australia. A grand prize winner for her comedy FIRST TO THE EGG (in which she also starred and which later was turned into an award winning short), Freedman has won numerous awards for her writing including BRIDESMAID #3, a finalist in the prestigious Louisville Play Competition; and ROCK, PAPER, SCISSORS!, a finalist in the Harrogate Festival. Freedman's play Serial Killer Barbie is published with Brook Publishing.

Former Artistic Director of Mountaintop Players which produced Emmy winner Stephen McFeely's Now Leaving Gate 20, Colette is currently the resident literary manager at Circus Theatricals in Los Angeles, an active prouduing theater where many of her own works have premiered including ...DECONSTRUCTING THE TORAH, ELLIPSES... and SOAP BOXING. She is currently adapting an updated and original take on Euripides "Iphigeneia at Aulis" which will be produced there in the winter of 2005.  She is a member of the Dramatist's Guild and graduated with a Bachelor's Degree in English and Theatre from Haverford College and received her Master's in Teaching from Colgate University. She is extremely excited to be working with The Mendelssohn Project on the world premiere of FELIX AND FANNY.
